Although Astrology is no longer my only love it is the love I go back to to gain an understanding as to “why now?”. I have learnt through observation that the planets and their placement do affect us, push us, prod us and at times insist we learn once and for all. The first clue as to which planet is doing the poking, prodding or shoving always show up in the chakras for me. For instance this week the ailments of the Ear nose and throat of myself or others screamed “mercury must be going retrograde!” Astrologers often present retro Mercury as a potential hazard, advising avoiding signing on the dotted line, and yes I can see the reasoning for that, but I would also advise go a little deeper. Stop, look and listen before you admit, commit or dismiss what ever is being drawn to your attention.
Mercury is the messenger, even when retro, mercury is trying to get a message across. It shows up in the throat chakra as a potential for change every time.
For me personally I am being drawn to address my conditioning to defer to the wisdom of the (at times) unwise purely because they were my elders or the official “experts” of the subject at hand. . Speaking up when you know others don't want to hear you or have your point be accepted takes a certain amount of guts, granted, but speaking up without making things worse takes a more steady approach. I am by nature a blurter, my dad when describing me would tell you “there is no stop gap, Lorraine thinks and speaks at the same time!”. Often thinking before we speak is what shuts down our throat chakra and renders us mute when we need to speak up, so I will never suggest thinking before you speak, instead I recommend “LISTEN” while you speak and amend if needs be.
I believe change begins in the throat chakra, so any time the planets (especially) Mercury is highlighted (for better or worse) there is an opportunity for change afoot. I get excited when mercury goes retrograde because its the time I see the best real chance for change, life is fast paced at the best of times, so when the planets afford us an opportunity to slow things down enough to give it or them our full attention I am all for it.
Even retro Mercury is our friend if we will let him be, but to do so we have to be open to the possibility we are not wholly right, and may even be an iddy widdy bit wrong in our thinking, hearing speaking and that may be the block standing in our way to a (when ever I utter these words together I hear Jordan and Peter Andre singing it badly in my head) A whole new world!
