One of my all time favourite films is Monty Python Holy grail so when I began to think about Jupiter and the quest for the Holy Grail, that film was all I could think of.
We often make the mistake of assuming our purpose or meaning in life has to be something that serves the world or the majority at least.
Far too often our purpose or meaning becomes sullied because we did a Jupiter or is it “big Mac’s” and went large, failing to notice that the burger or bit we like the most got no bigger, we just got more of the side order.
What if our purpose or the thing that gives meaning to us is the simple act of being ourselves? What if all we needed to do was notice that we already are our Holy Grail and that no extra effort or fanfare was needed?
“Bollocks!” I hear you cry, “The Grail has to be bigger, brighter and every other “er” we can think of. It has to be the thing that sets us apart from others.
But the need to be set apart, to stand out, would show up as an imbalance within the chakra system.
The need for “more” would first show up in the root chakra, where the potential for dissatisfaction lives. If we stopped looked and listened to ourselves we’d hear it in everything we said and did, from thinking about what’s for afters while we were still eating our dinner, to constantly moaning about what we don’t have while failing to appreciate what and who we already have in our lives. When our root is balanced we are grateful for what we have and savour whatever or whoever it is we already have and there is no need to covet or be jealous of what someone else has already achieved.
From the simple act of craving a puppy or kitten while not actually paying much attention to your adult dog or cat, to wishing for a new love while making no real effort to make room for the new by letting go of the old relationship that has no love left in it.
The other chakra which easily gives away our imbalances is our heart chakra, and the need to be better or fear that we can never be better shows up. When our heart is balanced and we accept who we are warts and all, we find it easier to accept others as they are rather than wish they’d be who or what it is we want them to be.
When we accept we are a work in progress and not perfect we can accept and enjoy life and the stage we are at all the more.
Each of us is unique; we could be given the same ingredients or life situations and make something different with it.
All week I have heard “dissatisfied “ energy in conversations and seen it within unfolding dramas and at first I thought root chakra but then I remembered Jupiter and what an imbalanced Jupiter can do to our lives.
When our Jupiter is out of balance we.....
Feel that life has no meaning
Tend to overdo it – whether “it” is drugs, burning the candle at ends, overeating, gambling or constantly seeking guidance through readings in their many forms.
Think big is beautiful so need the biggest and best of everything.
Find it difficult to think of things to be thankful for.
Think we know it all and could be perceived as arrogant.
Have no personal spiritual beliefs or philosophies, which leave us feeling empty or needing to pretend to be spiritual to fit in.
To increase the strength of our Jupiter we need too....
Embrace the unknown – see life as a big adventure, much as a child does
Identify and live out your personal purpose, don’t get caught up in following the spiritual trend of serving others, buck that trend and be who you feel you are, not what you think is expected of you.
Know that just as every flower, tree and bird has a right to exist, so do you.
Identify the things that give your life meaning and focus more on them. The mistake we often make here is having that meaning come from others rather than ourselves. We need to decide what makes us feel go about ourselves, not leave it to others to apportion value to who we are and what we do.
Know your limits; don’t push your body to excess.
Be generous to yourself as well as others.
Expand your mind through travel, philosophy and study.
Develop the philosophy “Less is more”.
Appreciate what you have – try keeping a gratitude journal.
By focusing more on the good things we have we not only feel better inside but we also attract more of the universes bounty.
Take the occasional risk – do something daring, exciting or uncertain.
Often when our Jupiter is out of balance we have become stuck in a rut, too afraid to make the changes we know we need to make in order to stop looking at our life and others with mud in our eye.
Whoever they are and whatever that situation is, they or it is there to help you see something you have failed to see or chose to ignore. That something, be it belief, feeling or fear is the thing that stands between you and your Holy Grail.
